Applying as a Transfer
Morgan offers multiple ways to apply for admission. Regardless of the application that you choose to use, please only apply with ONE application. This ensures that your application is processed efficiently and effectively. If you completed all of your college courses while enrolled in high school, you should apply as a freshman with college credits.
If using the Morgan application, you will create your student portal at the time of application. If you using the Common Application or other application options, once you submit your application you will receive an email with instructions on how to create an online student portal. The portal allows you to follow your admission application through the journey to an admission decision. Additionally, important information can be found in your portal regarding events and academic programs - we STRONGLY encourage you to check your student portal for application updates.
Please note our application deadlines and admission requirements.
Lastly, we encourage you to apply to Morgan State using a non-school or university-related email account. Many high school or college emails have firewalls that often will send our emails to your spam folders. To ensure you don't miss any important notifications from our office, please use a personal email account to apply.
*Please note that in addition to your admission application, you also need to send additional information to COMPLETE your application for an admission review. These steps are outlined on the webpage below.
A transfer student is any student who has attended a two or four-year school and applies for admission to Morgan State University.
Requirements for admission vary, depending on transferable credits completed and your academic record from all institutions attended.
Please review the following admission requirements carefully before submitting your application:
- 0-11 *transferable credits with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher and meet the regular freshmen requirements;
- 12-23 *transferable credits with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher as well as a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher from high school;
- 24 or more *transferable credits with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher.
If you attended or are currently attending a non-U.S. college, you must have your transcript(s) evaluated by one of the following international credential evaluation companies: WES, AACRAO, ECE or NACES. Please visit our international applicants page for additional information.
*Please note: developmental and/or remedial classes are not transferable. Official high school transcripts are required only for students who are transferring with less than twenty four (24) transferable credits. Students are expected to have a cumulative average of 2.0 from all colleges attended and to be "in good standing" at the last institution attended.
You may choose to submit official transcripts with your application for admission for EACH COLLEGE YOU HAVE ATTENDED. You may upload your official transcripts to your application before submission or you may have your university send your transcript using any of the methods below. Please reach out to the admission counselor for transfer recruitment if you have questions about sending your transcript to Morgan State.
- Accepted digital formats: Parchment, eScript-Safe, National Student Clearing House, Strighterline, Naviance (if high school transcript), or ScribOrder.
All electronic third party transcript services may send transcript notifications to apply@morgan.edu. Transcripts sent to any other email address will not be considered. - Postal Mail:
